I'm on a 4day work attachment at the polyclinic. Met the 6 others in school at 11am. Should have met them at the polyclinic instead since its so near my house. Thank God it rained or we would have taken bus 40 to the polyclinic. Spilt ourselves into 2 taxis. Reached before 12 so we went to MACs for lunch. (we did not know there was a lunch break)
From 12-1, we had a talk by Dr Shah Mitesh who is an old boy of TKSS. Tour around the polyclinic and went for lunch from 1-2. hahas went to library and slack! Its been years since I stepped into library. I think the last time was in p6?!
From 2-3 it was observation time, we had 4 rooms to visit. Spilt ourselves into 4 groups and rotated to each room every 15mins. The 1st room was the health counselor room. There they council people to quit smoking, learn more about their disease like hereditary disease, thalassaemia,healthy lifestyle,lipids, HBP, TB etc. The 2nd room was the diabetic retinal photography where they capture a picture of your retina and observe for some stages of diabetics i think... Anyway there was this old man that piss the nurse off because he kept looking around and thus the nurse couldn't capture the retina image.
nurse: "wa piang!"
The 3rd room was the diabetic foot screening room. Screen on the leg and teach the patient to take care or else if it worsen, the leg will have to be amputated. This aunty who looked like 50+ 60 said she was 80. She really looked young la. How can she be 80?! No matter how long you look at her, there is no way you can convince yourself that she is 80. She cannot speak English and the nurse is an Indian so yuggy and I took turns to be their interpreter. The aunty thank us for being there or else she would not be able to communicate with the nurse. When we were standing there, she asked us if we came here to have our leg checked too. (hello aunty we here on work attachment, not here for health check!)
The 4th room was a dressing room where they dress up the wounds. Didn't have a chance to see the hands on because there was no wounded patients there.
At 3, we went to the pharmacy and see how they worked. I liked the girl Dawn Tan Yan Ling! before that I already find this girl very good looking standing at the counter. Anyway she showed us how it works in the pharmacy. The way they packet, the way they prescribed the medicine, label the medicine etc. WoW so many tablets and syrups at the back. We asked her to show us medicine such as sleeping pills, those curing hair loss, pimples etc. Sadly they do not have HIV medicine there as requested by Jermaine. lols!
I received lots of interesting pamphlets. ITS NOT PORN! Its just patient information on how to use pessaries properly. according to Yan Ling she said that no patients complained that it is pain because it is used by married women. Its something like curing fungus growing there.
