SINGAPORE - Infocomm Asia Holding Games kicked off the Granado Espada Open
Beta at Zouk with a Saturday launch party, the biggest for an online game in
South East Asia with over 3000 participants in attendence.Granado Espada is a
massive multiplayer online role-playing game developed by IMC Games and
published by HanbitSoft. Players get to fight monsters, complete quests, make
new friends and more in a mystical fantasy world.
The game’s art direction is heavily influenced by the 17th to 18th century
European Baroque style.Participants of the party were treated to a feast of all
senses. Zouk was decorated with hanging vines and sculptures of game monsters to
recreate the feel of the game. Also on the party floor were cosplayers and
models dressed up as various characters from the game.
The main stage featured performances from various local groups. Swordplay
group PHEMAS displayed the art of medieval European sword fighting and the Tanjong Katong Secondary School Military Band played
popular tunes and music from the Granado Espado soundtrack. (we
did not play music from their soundtrack! -.-)
The finals of the 2 on 2 Regional Arena Tournament also took place. The
best players from Singapore, Malaysia, the Philippines and Vietnam competed
against each other for attractive prizes. Malaysian team YakiMy2 emerged as the
overall champions, each team member taking home a full computer system.
Mr Hakkyu Kim, CEO of IMC Games and creater of Granado Espada, mingled with
gamers at the party and autographed limited-edition box sets of Granado Espada
for the first 200 buyers. These limited-edition sets come with special items
that cannot be obtained elsewhere. Only 9,999 copies are available worldwide. At
the pre-party press conference, Mr Roland Ong (CEO of IAH Games), Mr Alex Kim
(CEO of HanbitSoft Inc) and Mr Hakkyu expressed their elation on the launch of
the Open Beta, and hoped that players across Asia will enjoy it to the
fullest.Quoted from RiFat's Blog
16 june '07, the TK BAND performed at zouk. rather fun. when we arrived, no one was there yet. then we tried out the stage. then we rehearsed summore. then we went up to the HOLDING ROOM which was actually the Granado Espada characters' CHANGING ROOM. So we were the for awhile and all the guys were looking at the girls dressing up... ok lah, the temptation will turn your head to look at the girls if you are a guy and at the guy if you are a girl. Theyar all hot. so yeah...Adli, trumpeter, was eying a girl in blue. Hmmm...i bet he was drooling...KIDDING...so anyways, the whole band had to go down to have their lunch. But 2 guys had to take care of the instruments first in the holding room. Kamarul, QM, stayed back and he called me with him. so yah. we stayed. Kamarul was like, "Wah best sia, best sia," i just giggled. then when a girl was changing, he was like "LOOK! LOOK!" i glanced and sighed. I wasnt really that interested.. Then i took out my handphone and earpiece to listen to COBRA STARSHIP: SEND MY LOVE TO THE DANCEFLOOR ILL SEE YOU IN HELL (MR. DJ). I like the song although its a bit techo-y... Then MR Azlan brought up some food for me and kamarul with Mr Sumitra. MR Sumitra came up to me and said, "You two are having a ball of a time huh?" I was like, "Nuh-uh. Not really. Maybe kamarul." Then they went down, after we finished eating, I was damn craving for coke (because a whole pack was beside me and it was only for the characters) So then i told kamarul to call Mr Azlan. He practised. It was rather polite. it souded like this, "Hello? Mr Azlan, Me and rifat are thirsty, could we get plain water and coke?" Ok lah not bad. Then his nervousness got the best of him when the phone was ringing after he dialed. So this is how he ended up saying it, "Hello! Ah! MR Azlan! We finish eating, now we want to drink!" WTF...dots... We laughed out loud. then mr azlan came gave us drinks and yah i pleasured my craving. then we switched ppl to take care of the intruments and we went down to try-out GRANADO ESPADA! so cool ah the game. GREAT graphics. So anyway soon it was the band's time to perform and we did well. i was playing the bass drum and in the middle of songs, i spun my sticks and the peeps behind me were like WAHHH!! I smiled. Then we went back to school blah blah blah got goddie bags and went home. END
